Tool Tote Box
This is a handy size 9X18 inch tool tote box I made for my Dad on his 81st birthday. The sides are made of Walnut, the vertical handle supports are laminations of Ambrosia Maple and Walnut. The bottom and handle are Oak.
The corner joints were cut on a router table using a drawer lock bit. With the drawer lock bit the sides are cut flat on the router table and the ends are cut vertically against the fence. When assembled they form an interlocking joint. The Oak plywood bottom floats in a groove and is not glued in place.
The inside surfaces were finish sanded with 220 grit Norton 3X brand sandpaper prior to assembly.
Assembly was with Titebond III glue and no mechanical fasteners were used.
Two coats of MinWax WipeOn Poly satin polyurethane finish was applied using a soft cotton cloth.
